On Friday 1st May, in the shadow of Cornwallis House and the beautiful May sunshine, the CCF held their Biennial Inspection on the Astro. Since their last Inspection, the contingent has grown to 150 cadets, probably it’s biggest since CCF was compulsory for everyone in the 1950s. Tim Barlow (Class of 1965, Horsley) had recently found some of his original uniform and brought it along – how times have changed!
The Reviewing Officer was Group Captain Jason Vaughan, who made the cadets feel at ease and engaged with them throughout the day. A large cohort of guests, including parents, staff and Old Cranbrookians watched as the contingent paraded with precise timing, exemplary discipline and drill precision.
Following the Parade, the Pooley Ceremonial Sword presentation took place, after which NCOs gave informative and candid presentations, sharing the experiences they had gained through their time in the CCF. Their pride, enthusiasm and personal growth were evident for all to see. Cadets then spent the afternoon showcasing their skills across the campus in a range of practical exercises and demonstrations.
What a wonderful occasion, we look forward to the next one in 2028!
