GCSE Success for Cranbrook Pupils

Cranbrook School pupils are once again celebrating fantastic GCSE results today. Almost half of all GCSE grades were achieved in grades 7 to 9 – the equivalent of A* - A under the previous grading system. This is well above the National average of 21.6% and South East average of 24.4%. These results are a testament to the hard work, resilience, and character of our pupils and staff.

What is truly remarkable is the breadth of Cranbrook pupil’s achievements. Cranbrook pupils on average study at least three additional subjects more than the national average (7.81%), with over one-fifth of pupils studying 11 – 13 subjects. This ensures variety and level of challenge, encompassing three Sciences, Maths, English, Languages, and Humanities whilst nourishing our pupil’s wonderful array of interests and passions.

There are always too many deserving pupils to mention but it is worth celebrating the success of some of the School’s outstanding performers. Ryan achieved a remarkable 11 subjects at grade 9 and 2 grade 8s, Jemima also achieved an impressive 11 grade 9s and 1 grade 8, Daren with 10 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s, Joanna and Billy with the equally impressive 8 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s.

The incoming Head, David Clark, commented: "This is a really pleasing set of results on so many levels. The current cohort has faced many challenges these past 2 years and yet the students have emerged with the impressive grades that they deserve. In my short time at Cranbrook, it is clear that there are very strong relationships between students and teachers and this has also contributed to today’s successes. We now look forward to welcoming the vast majority into our Sixth Form where they will be joined by a talented group of new students – coming to Cranbrook from a wide range of local schools as well as those from further afield who are looking forward to becoming part of our wonderful boarding community."
