OC Golfers returned to the Weald of Kent Golf Club for the 32nd OCA Golf Day.
34 players enjoyed playing a course in excellent condition with the aim of winning the Donald Robathan Trophy.
Of those attending, three OC’s had played in the inaugural meeting in 1993 while Piers Fox, Peter Newman, Adam and Philip Piper were making their first appearance. Crispin Barker was due to have joined them but had to withdraw owing to a late injury.
After coffee and bacon rolls the Individual Stableford Competition was played over 18 testing holes with Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive competitions also being available to the Men and Ladies.
10 players scored 34 stableford points or more, but the top four were:
Peter Jakob (39 points), Jane Reader (39 points), Gareth Sheppard (38 points) and Paul Sorensen (36 points).
Sue Soar had the next highest Ladies’ score (36 points).
Before the prizegiving, the Headmaster, David Clark, spoke to everyone, encouraging OCs to maintain contact with the School through the excellent website “Cranbrook Connects”.
Next year’s OCA Golf Day will be held at the same venue on Monday, 5th July 2027. Anyone wishing to play should initially contact Jeremy Barham (jeremyandsophia49@gmail.com).
