Events & Reunions |
Everything came together perfectly in 2022 for the OCA Sports Reunion when the sun shone on happy crowds up at Big Side for the return of rugby and then down at the Astro when rugby 7s teams joined hockey and netball players for a few hours of relaxed refreshments and reminiscing (Old Cranbrookians' Association). We hope that the weather on Sunday 26th March 2023 will be equally kind, and that you’ll be able to join us to enjoy some good spirited competitive sport and the company of old friends.
When and where?
This year the reunion will be returning to a Sunday, which we hope will make it easier for OCs who still play league sport to come along, but there’s really no need to be match fit in order to take part as enthusiasm and a vague recollection of the rules, plus trainers, is pretty much all you’ll need to enjoy some great team spirit once again. However, if you're a hockey player looking to up your game, now is your chance to get some pitch-side critique from award winning coach Tim Barlow, OC. Tim coached 6 of the team GB gold medal winning players at the 2016 Rio Olympics (and two more on the subs bench) from age 11 and Hollie Webb, who scored the winning penalty, had been with Tim at Belper Hockey Club from age 12.
And we're bringing everyone back together - boys and girls, hockey, netball and rugby, all down at Scott field and the astro so that it's just a quick walk through from one sport and group of friends to another. We'll meet at Scott courts at 10:00 to kick off with netball and tea/coffee an breakfast rolls before rugby 7s on Scott field at 11:00 (assumning it's not too wet) and then through to lunch and hockey on the astro from 12:30. There will be plenty of parking around the Sporth Hall in Barham Drive.
Can’t be here in person?
We know that it won’t be possible for everyone who might want to be with us to join friends in person on the day, so if you’ll be with us in spirit and would like to be remembered by friends and teammates, please send a message, memory and/or photo to be displayed on our memories board pitch-side.
Celebrating great sporting achievements
Cranbrook School has produced an exceptional number of extraordinary sportsmen and women over the years, given its size and resources. In 2023 we would like to congratulate Ruaridh McConnochie for his recent call up to Scotland’s Six Nations training squad and Tim Barlow for being awarded The Coaching Chain award, for his role in coaching Great Britain’s most decorated hockey athlete of all time, Laura Unsworth MBE (Old Cranbrookians' Association).
Tim Barlow, then and now:
